Maria McInnis:

Why do you teach?

I love sharing my passion for dance, from my soul to my feet. Passing that on in the best possible way I know how, I am able to see these kiddos grow and mature into amazing dancers and overall beautiful people, from the inside out. It brings joy to my life and I hope to theirs.

Your favorite dance moment?

Being a dancer and a teacher, there are so many moments that stand out for me. But if I include mom into that equation, there is nothing better then the very first time I was one stage with my baby girl – To the Moon and Back, Baby!

Why you teach at DSOM?

DSOM is a one of a kind dance family. From the teachers, to the dancers, to the parents, there is a level of support, commitment, dedication, and quality like no other. And radiates throughout the studio, across all genres, from the classroom to the stage.

Personal Fun Fact

I am very afraid of bananas and I dance in the kitchen all the time while cooking & baking.

How long you have been dancing and teaching?

I have been a dancer for 32 years, a teacher for 8 years

Message to my students:

“Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others tarnish your perfectly beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Take it and have gratitude, give it and feel love.”

To my Dancers, remember that dance enriches your life in a multitude of ways. Life is a dance – find yourself, lose yourself, and embrace your personal growth in doing both. In every movement, on and off the dance floor, “don’t move the way fear moves makes you move. Move the way love makes you move. Move the way joy makes you move.” Always Be True – Always Be YOU!
