Why do you teach?
I teach because it gives me life to watch a child or teenager (even adults) gain confidence through dance. As much of a joy it was to perform myself, teaching is much more satisfying for me.
Your favorite dance moment?
It would either be the time I placed as the top overall soloist at Turn It Up! My sophomore year of high school or the first time I walked on stage with my first creative movement class and I watched their faces light up.
Why you teach at DSOM?
I grew up here. This place is my home. My coworkers and students are like my family. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Personal Fun Fact
I really, REALLY do not like cotton balls or hotdogs.
How long you have been dancing and teaching?
I’ve been dancing since I was 7 years old, started assisting when I was 12 and started teaching when I was 18.
Message to your students:
My hope for you is that dance becomes more about an overflowing heart of passion than it is about the competition. You have a purpose. Let the music and your body teach you that.
